Art students at Corby’s Lodge Park Academy visit world-renowned portrait artist’s studio

Art students from Corby’s Lodge Park Academy, part of the David Ross Education Trust, were invited to spend time with world-renowned portrait painter, Jonathan Yeo, at his studio in London.

Jonathan Yeo is a British artist famous for his portraits of acclaimed figures such as HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, HRH The Duchess of Cornwall, former Prime Minister Tony Blair and actors Kevin Spacey and Sienna Millar.

This latest visit follows the success of Jonathan’s visit to Lodge Park Academy in January this year, as part of the pioneering enrichment programme its students enjoy as a David Ross Education Trust school.

During the exclusive visit, students spent time with Jonathan discussing his inspirations and learnt more about career paths within the visual arts.

Harri Logue, a Year 13 art student at Lodge Park Academy, said: “Jonathan Yeo was amazing and he was really interested in all of us and why we love art. It was inspiring to see his portraiture up close and to understand where he finds his inspiration. Spending time with Jonathan has made me even more passionate about art.”

Year 13 Art student Wiktoria Golembieska, said: “It was very interesting and an amazing opportunity to be able to see Jonathan’s artwork in real life. I have left his studio feeling inspired by the incredible artwork he has created. It has really been a life-changing experience for me.”

Darren Gadsby, Principal at Lodge Park Academy, said: “This was another amazing day for our students and they were in complete awe. They are already asking when we will be visiting Jonathan’s exhibition at the Royal Academy!

“It is these kinds of outstanding opportunities that students at Lodge Park Academy can expect as part of their rich and rewarding education.”
