Corby's Lodge Park Academy recognised by National Citizen Service
Corby’s Lodge Park Academy, part of the David Ross Education Trust, has been awarded Bronze Champion School status by the regional provider of the National Citizen Service (NCS), a flagship youth programme for 16 and 17 year olds. The status has been given to those institutions, like Lodge Park Academy, that have excelled in promoting the programme and recruiting young people to take part over the last academic year.
NCS is a unique two or three week full-time programme focused around fun and discovery, plus 30 hours committed to a community project that benefits both young people and society. Participants build skills for work and life, while taking on new challenges and adventures, making new friends, and contributing to their community.
Leo Gilbert, Principal at Lodge Park Academy, said: “At Lodge Park Academy, we recognise the positive effect that participation in the NCS programme has on our students and our school.
“For our young people, National Citizen Service provides a host of practical and emotional benefits, among them a positive contribution to UCAS personal statements and wider social and personal development. The improvements in the confidence and resilience of our students who have graduated from the programme has been noticeable.”
