Corby's Lodge Park Academy recognised at National Sports Awards
Corby’s Lodge Park Academy, part of the David Ross Education Trust, has been highly commended in the Outstanding Secondary School category at the Youth Sport Trust National Sports Awards, held at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry.
The annual Youth Sport Trust Awards celebrate young people, teachers and schools from across the country who have inspired and led change in PE, school sport and physical activity.
The highly competitive Schools Award, hosted by endurance athlete Sophie Radcliffe and Ben Smith, a marathon runner who has completed an incredible 401 marathons in 401 days, saw an unprecedented number of entries.
Lodge Park Academy received the prestigious National Highly Commended Award, after the school was recognised for the varied sporting programmes offered to students across each year group.
Alongside the partnership with the Youth Sport Trust, the secondary school offers incredible sporting opportunities through the David Ross Education Trust’s pioneering enrichment programme, including regular masterclasses with elite athletes, development of leadership opportunities, inspirational visits and a whole school focus on health and wellbeing.
Alice Smyth, Director of Sport at Lodge Park Academy, said: “It is fantastic to have our achievements celebrated at a national level. The opportunities that our students have access to through the Youth Sport Trust and our sponsor, the David Ross Education Trust, have been outstanding and highly inspirational.”
