Lodge Park Academy named Northamptonshire Sports School of the Year
Students and staff at Corby’s Lodge Park Academy, part of the David Ross Education Trust, are celebrating after they were named Northamptonshire Sports School of the Year.
Lodge Park Academy secured the prestigious title at this year’s Northamptonshire Sports Awards, which celebrates the incredible sporting achievements of local schools, clubs and individuals.
Judges were extremely impressed with the variety and depth of the sports enrichment programme on offer at Lodge Park Academy. As part of the David Ross Education Trust, students have participated at high profile sporting events in front of Olympic greats such as Sir Steve Redgrave and Rebecca Adlington. Students have also benefitted from high-quality fixtures, sports tours in Europe, funded trips to major tournaments and sports bursaries and scholarships.
Judges were also impressed by the remarkable work the academy has done to improve students’ health and wellbeing, and the success of Lodge Park Academy’s sports teams.
Alice Smyth, Director of Sport at Lodge Park Academy, said: “It is fantastic to see our sports enrichment programme recognised in this way. We are incredibly privileged to have access to a wide range of sporting opportunities through the Trust’s pioneering enrichment programme.
“Sport is very important to us at Lodge Park Academy. Not only does it help our students to improve their physical fitness and wellbeing, but it also teaches them the importance of teamwork and commitment.”
Lodge Park Academy has celebrated an extremely successful sporting year as they were recently awarded Corby Sports School of the Year and the School Games Gold Kitemark for the fourth year running, and were also shortlisted for the Youth Sport Trust Sports School of the Year.
