Marc Quinn Presentation and Workshop
Budding artists from Lodge Park Academy, Bringhurst Primary School, Charles Read Academy, Malcolm Arnold Academy, Woodnewton Primary school and Rockingham Primary School were thrilled to meet British contemporary artist, Marc Quinn, as part of a special event.
The artist who is best known for ‘Self’, a sculpture of his head made with his own frozen blood, has exhibited his works around the world, most notably in the National Portrait Gallery, the Saatchi Gallery and the British Museum.
During his visit, Marc discussed the importance of believing in yourself and being intensely committed in order to achieve your ambitions. He then led a sculpture workshop with Sixth Form students, where they had the opportunity to create casts of their own hands.
Abbie Owen, head of art:
“Marc Quinn was an inspiration and the students were excellent ambassadors for the academy”
