Students raise the bar with Sports Programme
Corby’s Lodge Park Academy is one of the leading secondary schools in the local area for their Sports programme, with over 170 activity sessions delivered at the school between October and December 2018.
Lodge Park Academy, part of the David Ross Education Trust, has seen success at recent sporting events, with the U14 girls’ netball team claiming third place at this year’s County Plate, qualifying for the County Cup. The boys’ football team have also been recently crowned district Futsal Champions and took second place at the District Cup.
Lodge Park not only offers sporting opportunities to students within school, but also supports those who are part of clubs in their spare time including Caitlyn, a Year 10 student who has been selected for Northamptonshire Cricket’s Elite Player Programme.
Alex Williams, Sports Enrichment Officer at Lodge Park Academy, said: “We are very proud of all our students who show great determination and give their all in the sports they take part in. Being part of the Trust means our students benefit from having access to an incredible variety of sporting opportunities, something they wouldn’t normally be involved in. Our sports enrichment programme ensures each student strives to give their best and push their skills to the next level, as well as making sure they have a great time.”
Lodge Park’s Sports Enrichment programme not only focuses on standard national curriculum sports but gives students opportunities to explore competing in two new sports – Dodgeball and Boccia. The Boccia team have recently taken the District Crown with the Dodgeball team just missing out on qualifications.
