Visit to Jonathan Yeo Studio, London
Following the success of Jonathan Yeo’s visit to Lodge Park, we were invited by him to see his studio to get a better insight in to his work and studio practice.
We had a talk by his team who told the students about their background and how they began working with Jonathan. They also gave a brief careers talk in to what you need to do with regards to qualifications and work experience. Then we had a tour of the studio and other buildings.
Following this we met Jonathan again and he took us around his artwork that was exhibited on the walls, explained the inspiration and ideas and then we went to his studio where he explained his practice etc.
This was an amazing day and the students were in awe for the most part. They asked lots of questions and were fully engaged in his work and all of the talks they were given. They were true ambassadors for the academy and are already asking when we will be visiting his exhibition at the royal academy later in the year.
“He seemed genuinely interested in talking to us and it was very inspiring to see his amazing portraiture”, Harri Logue
“It was very interesting and an amazing opportunity to be able to see the works in real life”, Wiktoria Golembieska
“He was very inspirational”, Kira Jenkins
This experience has inspired the year 13 art students and given them a valuable insight in to possible career choices. This can only improve their knowledge and skills further and inspire them on to higher education within the arts.
