Welcome to the LPA Family
Dear Year 6 (and your parents or carers),
I am absolutely delighted that you will be joining us here at Lodge Park Academy and I cannot wait to meet you. At Lodge Park Academy we are a family. We look after one another and we support each other to be really successful. We are really ambitious for all our students and ensure they all get excellent teaching and brilliant extra-curricular opportunities, particularly in sport and the performing arts. I am certain you will love it here!
You may also be feeling anxious and worried. Please don’t worry. In the next week, I will be sending you a welcome letter with all the details of how we will get to know each other really well before you join us in September. There will be loads of opportunities online, and in person as long as we can do so safely, to ask questions, meet new friends and get a taster of what learning will be like here at Lodge Park Academy.
Your parents or carers might be a little bit worried about you coming to Lodge Park Academy. Moving from Year 6 to Year 7 is such a big step, so I understand their worries. They may also have some concerns because two years ago, when the school inspectors came, they had really serious concerns about the quality of education and care on offer. I want to reassure you, and your parents or carers, that our wonderful school has undergone a complete transformation since then and is now a superb place to learn and thrive. Sadly, school inspections were cancelled because of COVID-19 so we haven’t had a chance to be given a new judgement. We can’t wait for inspections to begin again properly so we can show the community that we’re a truly excellent school.
Whatever worries you have, please know that Lodge Park Academy is a happy, safe and friendly school. We look after you personally and do all we can to help you to develop your talents. We also have loads of laughs here at school because we have great relationships and we care deeply for each other. Behaviour here is very good indeed. You can expect disruption-free lessons 100% of the time. We don’t let anything get in the way of your learning.
Here at Lodge Park we have something called #LPAspirit. #LPAspirit is what you show when you’re being the best version of yourself – whether that’s being generous, hard-working, courageous or just showing us your brilliant sense of humour. I am so proud of Lodge Park Academy students (we call ourselves #TeamLPA) because they show the best version of themselves every single day. It makes me feel like I’m the luckiest Headteacher in the world!
Welcome to #TeamLPA. We can’t wait to get to know you.
Warm wishes
Mrs Waterman
Principal
