Lewis Hamilton puts academy into pole position
Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton has set a local academy off to a flying start after he officially opened Lodge Park Academy.
Students had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to quiz the sports star, as he took a tour of the academy’s facilities and unveiled a plaque to commemorate Lodge Park’s conversion.
As part of the move, Lodge Park joined the David Ross Education Trust, who broaden students’ horizons through a series of unique and innovative partnerships. This includes experience days at Silverstone and track days at Rockingham Speedway to test a new green-energy car students are developing.
Lewis commented: “It’s been fantastic to meet all the students and staff at Lodge Park. There’s definitely plenty going on at the academy. I’ve been really impressed by students’ enthusiasm for school life and the opportunities available to them.”
“It was great to have a chat with them and show them that if they work hard they can achieve their ambitions.”
Toby Mullins, Executive Principal at Lodge Park Academy, said: “It was a massive honour to have Lewis open our academy.
“Many of the students look up to him and have been inspired by his strong work ethic and dedication to reaching his goals.
“These are exactly the messages that we want to be sending out to our students. If they work hard and show commitment, they can achieve anything.”
Callum Reilly, a student at Lodge Park Academy, said: “It was absolutely incredible to meet Lewis.
“He was really friendly and talked to us about how he has managed to become so successful. It was a memorable day, and one that really sets us apart. Lodge Park is an exciting place to be at the moment, and I am glad I am part of it.”
