Press Release: Monday 21st September – Positive COVID case in school
Statement from Mrs Waterman, the Principal at Lodge Park Academy.
We can confirm that a pupil in Year 9 has tested positive for COVID-19.
In line with the Department for Education and Public Health England’s advice, students and staff who had close contact with the student are now self-isolating and will return to school on 2nd October. A deep clean of the classrooms that the student was in last week has already taken place.
In the meantime, we will provide virtual learning for any pupils who are self-isolating, so that their learning can continue uninterrupted.
Only students and staff who have had contact with the confirmed case, or been within a close proximity of the case, are required to self-isolate. To all other students, the school remains open as normal.
We remain confident that the measures we have taken to mitigate the risk of transmission of the virus in school are robust. The safety of everyone in our school community, and their families, remains our top priority.
We would like to thank all our students and staff for following our safety measures so rigorously. We would also like to thank our parents for being so supportive, patient and understanding.
We continue to highly recommend that all students wear face coverings in school.
